Elephants don't forget but I sure do...

Do you find yourself forgetting things? It happens to me all the time. Lately my memory seems to have taken a hiatus. Honestly I do not remember where it went or when it is suppose to return.

I recently purchased a large and bright writstlet to help me find my keys. It has helped me save time trying to remember where I put those keys. Of course I am clueless as to what half these keys actually open.

Do you often write a list of items you need to purchase at the grocery store on those yellow Posty notes and then forget to take the list with you? I now staple the list to the handle of my purse.

I purchased eco green shopping bags to help save the environment. I arrive at the store and either leave the bags at home or in the car. I now hang the bags on the inside of my front door so I do not forget to take them. I drive away hopefully remembering which store has the sale that day.

The coupons I was to bring to the grocery store are usually sitting home all organized on my kitchen counter. I bet if the check out counter service people had a dollar for every time they hear me say I forgot my coupons they could probably retire by now.

Finding the car when I come out of the store is another issue entirely!

Birthday cards are written in time because I write the information down on my calender but I have no clue as to where I put the stamps.

I often forget what I ate for breakfast. When I remember that I am dieting I write it all down to keep track of my calories and dieting points. Some times it is good to forget especially if you eat a piece of cake for breakfast.

Often I forget if I have taken my pills or not. Problem solved. I purchased a little weekly pill box but just where in the world did I put that gizmo?

When someone has changed their blog header photo that just really throws me for a loop. This must be a brand new blogger, although the content sounds familiar. Hum? Don't worry I will never change my header photo as I forgot how to do that too.

Have you opened your pantry or fridge and wondered what in the world you were looking for?
Admit that you have done this more often then you would like to remember.

If you happen to see a lady in Wally World, wearing a dress with a million yellow posty papers stapled to her purse, carrying an eco friendly shopping bag, waiting in line at the pharmacy it is probably me. I am there to pick up my memory pills. Stop and introduce yourself. Don't expect me to remember your name because I am lucky if I can remember my own name these days!

What are some of the things you forget?
Inquiring senior moment minds want to know.

  3. Oh yeah..I go down the basement and forget why I went! Have to go back up and look around to see what I was going for!
The car thing is scary...Over in the Outlets in Riverhead one freezing night..I was looking for my car. I forgot I had moved it closer to the Lenox Outlet...I have a red car now so I can find it!!!

  4. Today I forgot if I added laundry detergent to the washing machine. I added another cap full hoping and praying it wouldn't turn into an "I Love Lucy" episode. I'm always forgetting if I add laundry detergent!!! Great and hysterically funny post!

  5. I'd like to pretend that my mind is just so full of creative thoughts that I can't possibly be expected to stay on track...but, I don't think that's it.:) I am absolutely with you on the trip to the grocery store. I always get there without my list, coupons, and eco-bag. At least I'm in good company!

  8. I am and always have been a list maker. I remember pretty good, but I hate when I forget one little thing off the list if I forget it at home.
I hate when I forget someone's name. It will drive me nutz!
So you are not alone. I don't know if it is senior moments or what...but you are surely not the only one!
Have a good week...and don't forget to do it!!

  9. I love old movies, but I get so upset with myself when I can't remember the names of actors. Seems everyone else can just whip out those names. Ugh!!

  12. I forget things .. usually on my way to do something I stop because I have no idea where/what I intended to be/do.

I keep at all time my recycled bag folded up in my shoulderbag which hangs on a hook on the back of the apartment door. There's a dish on the table next to the door which is where I put my keys as soon as I walk in and anything I need to take with me is put next to the keys. The nano second I think of something I need 'to do later', I do it right then ..

Its not fool proof because I am still a fool but I find I forget less this way .. of course it might be that I just forget the rest of what I forget so ...

  13. I forget some of the same things you have on your list, the grocery list is the main one.
I have to make a list each morning of "Things to do Today" and tick (check) them off as I complete the task. I call it "Oldzeimers".

    I'll check back later.

  16. Joyce, I forget many of the things you do, but one time I forget my daughter's DR. appt. and I NEVER forget those, I was so embarassed, and apologized to the doctor when we saw her next, I think being menopausal (if you happen to be of that age group) is part of it...or maybe we have destroyed too many brain cells drinking red wine!!

  17. I'm absolutely forgetful too! So frustrating...sometimes I drive myself crazy! I'm blaming on mental-pause!

    Hugs!

  18. You are so funny, Joyce and it actually makes me feel glad that I am not the only one. Sometimes I would go to the bedroom to get something but when I get there, I would forget what I was supposed to get...Christine

  19. Oh this is so common but you know why it is happening?
It is song lyrics. Yup. Song lyrics. They have been storing up inside our brains since day one and we have finally filled the brain cells with all those lyrics.
Think about it. Remember all the words from those songs from the 50's? 60's. That's right they are in there. Sing along, I know you remember the words.

  21. Very funny, Joyce! And so very true! Just last week I spent 15 minutes looking for my glasses. I made sure they were not on my head, but later found them stuck in my bosom!
    Growing older sucks!

  23. LOL. Of all the things I've lost, it's my mind I miss the most....

  24. LOL Oh Joyce, you are a funny one; however, I totally relate to what you've written. When I worked, I used to staple a note around my purse strap, so that I'd remember something I needed to do once I arrived home. I hope you have a great day.

  25. Your post made me giggle. I am constantly forgetting things. I will put a stack a papers down in my classroom and aimlessly wonder around until one of my students will kindly point out their location (which are usually in a place I swore I just looked). I attribute it to having "a lot on my plate" and not the fact that I am getting older!

  26. Joyce-I picked up a business card from the bulletin board at Joann's and called about making my valances. I showed her picture and she had a pattern. I can find out the name and # of the pattern if you want it. Let me know. I am glad you liked them--thanks ps--I did not see an email address.

  27. Okay...so I'm not alone..but do you call things by the wrong name...for instance...I told my neighbor once that I had just donated a bunch of clothes to the Statue of Liberty....Dear Denise knew exactly that I meant the Salvation Army....she also knows when I say that I was at the Library that I was really at the post office...and as for you doing stand up...I still think we need to team up to do a sitcom...it would have to be better then what's on t.v. now....We could do an episode where you forget why a lamb was left in your car at the WM.....and I'll give you top billing.

  28. Oh yes, Joyce, I can relate...and it's getting more frequent the older I get. Sometimes when someone asks me something I tell them to wait and hour as that us how long my brain has to search its file cabinet to come up with the right answer! I have many EUREKA moments late at night but then I can't remember who asked the question? :D

  29. LOL, It's only my keys and glasses that I struggle with.

Btw, thanks for visiting my blog and commenting!

  31. What a nice post! I echo the same sentiments! My only fear is if I ever turned my car alarm on and I am half way to work on the train!

Ah senior moments, I am getting there!

  32. LOVED this post!...as most of us can totally relate. Recently I decided to buy a Rolodex so that I can write down where I have decided to store all my crafting supplies. If it's not within 'eye-shot', I forget I have it. : )

  33. So funny! I hate it when I go into a room to get something and forget what I went for and have to go back to where I started to see what I was doing to remember what I went to get!

At least you get to meet a lot of new friends every day :)

  35. I think I may have done everything on your list, except forgetting what I had for breakfast. I enjoy my food too much to forget what I ate.
