Remember when the movie Jaws came out in your movie theater back in the summer of 1975?
My sister-in-law was expecting her second child and was long over due so we went to see Jaws. We were hoping that by viewing the movie it would perhaps scare her into labor. No such luck! At one point in the movie we both jumped out of our seats and screamed at the top of our lungs. We always laugh at this memory.
I am sure that this flying shark kite scared the heck out of some little kids on the beach this summer. No matter what age you are, do you ever wonder what lurks beneath the surface of the water?
Shark flying in the sky?? haha...so funny :D
ReplyDeleteNow that's a great post! Some days I feel like the sharks are just lurking overhead!!!Lol, xoxo~Kathy~ @ Sweet Up-North Mornings...
ReplyDeleteI never saw Jaws .. but I also never swim anywhere I cant SEE the bottom .. this includes swimming pools at night unless they have lights under the water .. I am convinced something is going to get me .. can you imagine if I HAD seen Jaws?
ReplyDeleteI love the kite. You seem to be having great weather.
ReplyDeleteHi Joyce...I am laughing because I haven't been more than knee deep in the ocean since Jaws! Duh dun...duh dun...I start hearing the music! I scrolled down and looked at Dupres. I will have to check it out! It looks like you and Sue had fun at cooking school. I'm just not much of a cook anymore since my dd left home to get married! I hope you are enjoying your weekend and have recovered from all of the babysitting!...Debbie
ReplyDeleteHilarious duo of shots - lifeguard and shark kite. I like your sense of humor. I was a kid in 1975, but I remember the commericials for the movie - even they were scary! I read the book and then I eventually saw the film. A classic.
ReplyDeleteBoy do I remember watching Jaws the first time. I was beyond frightened. Because of it, I still don't like to get too far out in the water. I can hear that music in my head.
ReplyDeleteHugs!
Kat
(btw...thank you so much for your sweet supportive comment)
What a great kite, goes great with the lifeguard.
ReplyDeleteI remember reading the book, "mind boggling" it said on the back. I remember seeing the movie in the theater, and countless times after that on television. I remember so many things when I think of that movie. So many memories you triggered here! Lovely pictures too, Summer at it's best!
ReplyDeleteHi Joyce,
ReplyDeleteLast week the guards at the ocean made us all come out..but it was a big school of blue fish..in a feeding frenzy. The week before a guy got bit pretty badly by one..
I wasn't taking any chances!
Can't believe next weekend is Labor Day...summer took a long time to arrive here, and then flew by!
the movie Jaws...terrifying yet riveting...love your blog- thanks for visiting mine!
ReplyDeleteI almost posted a life guard picture for Summer Stock, too! Decided to save it for Ruby Tuesday. Thanks for stopping by my blog.
ReplyDeleteLove the kite, but that movie scarred me for life. I do swim in oceans and lakes, but part of me is always worrying about what's down there. Funnily, I do much better snorkeling because I CAN see what's there. It's the unknown hiding in the murky water I find intimidating.
ReplyDeleteI remember seeing Jaws when it opened and getting the life scared out of me. It has not stopped me from going into the ocean though!!!
