Saddle up for some Derby Day Pie....


It's Post Time!

Get your ovens ready to bake and your horses ready to run.
Grab a traditional Mint Julep .
Sit back and enjoy the 135th running of the Kentucky Derby.


Ingredients:

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons bourbon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 unbaked 9-inch pastry shell

Preparation:

Combine first 6 ingredients in a large mixing bowl; beat at medium speed of an electric mixer until blended. Stir in pecans and chocolate chips. Pour into pie pastry shell. Bake at 350° for 45 to 50 minutes or until center is almost set. Cool on a wire rack.
